Why Marriage Matters to Indiana’s Schools

Marriage plays a vital role in society.  It provides numerous documented benefits.  Therefore, this private relationship also serves as a public good.  Children with a married mom and a dad tend to face fewer risks and do better in society than children raised in any other lifestyle configuration.  As Hoosier children head back to school, here is a report showing some of the advantages married moms and dads provide students and their educational attainment.  With more the 50% of Indiana’s state budget spent on education, policy makers may want to take note of the importance of marriage upon education.
